Interim CEO / COO / CFO — Hedge Funds → Digital Assets → Deep Tech
At the intersection of finance and technology.
I build and run the finance, treasury and operating platform behind multi-billion, multi-jurisdiction investment businesses.

Career
Two decades of building the platform, not just running it.
The honest version: I've never been able to sit still, and I go looking for real risk. The first jump was an early mobile-payments venture — no net, just a decision to build something from nothing. Digital assets were the next one: in 2018, while still running Stone Milliner through its growth to $6.7bn, I co-founded flov technologies on a bet that this asset class would eventually need the same institutional-grade plumbing traditional finance takes for granted — real custody, real controls, real governance. Serpentine, and now the Web 3.0 Technologies Foundation, are that same bet, matured: two decades of regulated, multi-jurisdiction discipline applied to an asset class still building the infrastructure the rest of finance assumes already exists.
Web 3.0 Technologies Foundation
Institutionalizing the finance, treasury and operations of a top-5 blockchain protocol with 400+ staff in over 10 locations
Lead the Foundation’s finance and operations end to end. Built a USD 5bn institutional treasury and asset-management function from the ground up: investment policy and governance, liquidity tiering across operating, reserve and strategic pools, capital planning and budgeting, selection and oversight of external managers and counterparties, and the banking, custody, execution and control infrastructure for large-value fiat and digital-asset movements. Serve the investment committee with performance, risk and compliance reporting; drive AI-enabled automation of finance and treasury workflows across a lean team.
Serpentine Ventures AG
Restructuring of an existing venture business into a FINMA-licensed asset manager for collective investment schemes
Built the regulated operating platform of a licensed venture asset manager covering the full investment lifecycle from pre-seed to late stage: investment policies and processes, fund and firm treasury and cash management, valuation and investor reporting, and the control framework required for licensing.
flov technologies AG
Building the operational and financial set-up of the largest liquidity provider for digital assets
Co-founded and built the operational and financial infrastructure of a digital-asset liquidity provider: trading and treasury set-up, counterparty and custody arrangements, risk limits and controls, and the finance function.

Approach
How I operate
I’ve built finance and treasury functions from a blank sheet of paper twice, and rebuilt them inside a bank and a foundation. The pattern that holds across all of it: keep the operating model lean and technology-driven, put the controls in before you need them, and never let complexity become an excuse for slow decisions.
Trading-floor fluency matters as much as regulatory discipline — you have to be able to sit with a CIO on a bad day and with a regulator on an audit day, and speak both languages natively. That combination, more than any single credential, is what I bring to a business.
Right now that means treating AI the same way I once treated automation on a trading desk: not a headline feature, but a way to run a leaner team with tighter controls. This site’s AI assistant is a small, honest example of that — ask it something.
The status quo is rarely good enough. Standing still is going backward.
Why
A different path
I've always walked a different path than most — unconsciously at first, more deliberately with age. Four things explain why.
Impact × Change × Risk = Exposure
Impact
I've always sought roles where the output actually mattered — real impact on the organization, not just activity. That was true 25 years ago, running a credit-advisory tool with 300 daily users. It's true today, just with more emphasis on passing it on: teaching, mentoring, board work.
Change
I get restless fast. Repetition — in tasks, in meetings, in structures that exist because they've always existed — doesn't hold my attention. What gives other people stability, I experience as wasted time. The status quo is rarely good enough.
Risk
That's where the real risk-taking comes from — the startup investments where the falls are real and sometimes painful, the mountains where a bad decision has consequences. If it doesn't hurt when it goes wrong, it isn't real risk.
Exposure
Impact, multiplied by change, multiplied by risk, adds up to exposure — you don't always quite fit the mold. I used to find that uncomfortable. Now I look for it. A slightly different path isn't a detour. It's the point.
There's a version of this that's hard for other people to place — like a zoo animal: interesting to watch, best appreciated from a clean distance. I used to mind that. I don't anymore. It's not that I feel shut out — if anything, it's the opposite. I just run slightly out of sync with everyone else. Not in a completely different direction. Just on my own path.
Personal Investing
t10r Kapital
Alongside the day job, Thomas runs t10r Kapital — his personal investment vehicle for early-stage deep-tech, based in Meggen, Switzerland — backing technology he believes buys back humanity's most finite resource: time. t10rkapital.com ↗
Levers
Technologies that amplify human effort and multiply productivity — from autonomous robotics to high-performance programming languages.
Net
Decentralized architectures and stateless protocols — seamless interoperability, more truth and less trust, global coordination without intermediaries.
Energy
Breakthroughs in decentralized generation, storage and transmission — from advanced power cycles to space technologies.
Beyond the desk
Off the clock, Thomas is in the mountains — mountaineering, hiking and mountain biking through the Alps. It's the same discipline as the day job, just with worse cell reception: read the conditions honestly, size the risk before you commit, build in a margin of safety, and never mistake a good run for a good plan.
